Welp, that was fast. You guys can ignore my comment below.
So my suspicions were correct, the game bugs at 144hz by default. However, you can still play the game at that buttery-smooth framerate by simply disabling the 'fullscreen optimisations' when you r-click into the game's properties.
Yeah, it works pretty darn well in Windows 10. Just make sure you run it as an administrator, under the XP SP3 mode, and disable the FS optimisations. You can do all of this in one shot under the properties tab.

Hmm.. doesn't seem to work too great in Windows 10, even under different compatibility modes in the properties section (XP SP2/SP3, ME). It installed just fine, along with the addons it requires to run properly (one of those FMV games that requires specific versions of DirectX and QuickTime).
It tends to stutter/skip frames and output sound clicks. I dunno if anybody else has/had these issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I'll try a few more things, such as reverting back to 60hz. I'm wondering if my 144hz refresh rate is creating some of these compatibility issues.

I ported the game in the past, but now the digital version has been released on GOG.com last week, I finally could add the game to the Porting Kit database. The game works flawless :D, enjoy the game! Don’t forget to download the “Offline backup installer files” from your GOG.com library after purchase into your download folder and start the install.

Install is Simple:
1. Get Porting Kit or Crossover if you don’t have it yet.
2. Then download the GOG.com setup file from Myst III – Exile from GOG (Remember to download the “offline backup setup files”) into your download folder.
3. Then in Porting Kit search the game in the library –> server tab and click install.
4. After installation of the game, “exit” the GOG installer.
5. Click “Play” to start the game! Have fun!

The main story of the game is how Saavedro (played by Brad Dourif, probably the strongest acting performance in the Myst series), a slighted citizen of a world ravaged by Sirrus and Achenar, has taken 20 years to plot revenge against Atrus and his family. You predictably fall into his trap and have to puzzle your way out to reach the conclusion of the game.
